Pukaskwa Magic (lyrics) (click >> on music player to select this track)

I have travelled across this land
Many wonders I have seen
Pacific Rim took my breath
but the Pukaskwa stands alone

Oh Pukaskwa I carry you
Oh Pukaskwa I carry you
In my heart  in my dreams
In my heart in my dreams
Wherever I might be

I've seen the colours of the Bonnechere
I've met Algonquin in the fall
I've seen the beauty of The Gros Mourne
and brought them home to live with me
But the spruce trees of the Pukaskwa
keep calling me back home to her
keep calling me back home to her.

Oh Pukaskwa I carry you
Oh Pukaskwa I carry you
In my heart  in my dreams
In my heart  in my dreams
Wherever I might be

If youre travelling along this coastline
Make sure you stop here for awhile
Then you'll carry home with you
The magic of the Pukaskwa
The magic of the Pukaskwa

Pukaskwa National Park Artist-in-Residence

I first met Herschel in the summer of 2004 in our arts and crafts store in Wawa.
He and his wife Yona were on their way to Pukaskwa National Park where Herschel is Artist-in-Residence.

Later that summer I performed at a concert there with Herschel who accompanied me on his violin.
Hershel was lead violinist with the Quebec Symphony Orchestra for a number of years.
It was on this occasion that he introduced me to the world of Tom Thomson...this inspired me to write the music for my Wildwood/Through Tom's Eyes CD on which Herschel performed all the wonderful violin tracks.
Herschel Payne is an artist of national renown. His major paintings are in Government of Canada and Ontario collections.
Through his work as an artist, educator and conservationist, he travels Canada from coast-to-coast.
In collaboration with Parks Canada, he continues to teach conservation through art in the National Parks.
The artist's paintings are in collections in the USA, Europe, Australia and Asia.
